The TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur is about to enter the busiest stretch in its history. From the NPL's third season to the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup, six months of non-stop cricket will run through Nepal's main venue — the biggest hosting run the country has ever seen.

NPL 2026 Opens TU Ground's Packed Calendar

The run starts on October 26, when the Nepal Premier League's third season gets underway at the venue. Organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal, the tournament features the eight NPL franchises and runs until November 21.

Season 3 arrives with genuine weight. The ICC has formally recognised the tournament, so every match carries official List A T20 status. The Decision Review System will be used in Nepali cricket for the first time — CAN says the setup includes full 3D ball tracking for leg-before decisions, plus reviews for run-outs, stumpings and no-balls, with artificial intelligence assisting edge detection.

Fans can follow the NPL schedule as it unfolds, grab NPL tickets for the Kirtipur matches, check the points table as the playoff race takes shape, and find streaming options for every match.

Men's CWC Qualifier Playoff Takes December

There is barely time to breathe after the NPL final. From December 4 to 21, the TU ground stages the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff — eight teams fighting for four places at the 2027 World Cup Qualifier in South Africa and Namibia.

The field mixes the four lowest-ranked sides from Cricket World Cup League 2 with the top two teams from each of the Challenge League's Group A and Group B. Nepal, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Jersey, Italy and Uganda are all expected to feature, with Kuwait and Namibia among the possible additions, according to Online Khabar.

For Nepal, the timing could hardly be better. A home playoff gives the national side a real shot at staying on the road to the 2027 World Cup, as detailed in our report on the qualifier playoff.

U-19 Women's T20 World Cup: Nepal's Biggest Hosting Job

The centrepiece of the whole stretch arrives in the new year. The ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup runs from January 21 to February 6, 2027, co-hosted by Nepal and Bangladesh — and Online Khabar calls it the biggest cricket tournament Nepal has ever staged.

Forty-one matches are scheduled across the two countries, with 15 in Nepal split between the TU ground and the Mulpani Cricket Ground. Nepal's young women have landed in Group A, where two-time champions India lie in wait along with Ireland and the West Indies. All three of Nepal's group games are at TU: Ireland on January 22, India on January 24 and the West Indies on January 26, each starting at 9:30 in the morning.

The top three teams from each group reach the Super Six stage, with the semi-finals on February 4 and the final on February 6 — both in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Preparations in Kirtipur have been going on for months, and ICC officials have already visited to inspect the venue, a sign of how seriously Nepal is taking its biggest assignment yet.

Historic Bangladesh Series Closes the Season

The calendar closes with a genuine piece of history. Bangladesh will tour Nepal in March 2027 for three T20 internationals on March 26, 28 and 30 — the first time a Test-playing nation has visited Nepal for a bilateral series.

The two boards announced the tour in September, and the series will be dedicated to the victims of the devastating floods that struck Nepal in August. Beyond the three matches, the Bangladesh board has committed to supporting women's and age-group cricket in Nepal, plus high-performance programmes and technical help — a partnership that could outlast the series itself, as reported by Cricnepal.

With this much cricket on the way, live scores will be the way to keep up once the action starts in Kirtipur.

India A Series Postponed as Calendar Fills

One casualty of the crowded calendar is already confirmed. The T20 series between Nepal and India A, which had been pencilled in for November, has been postponed because the qualifier playoff takes priority. CAN has promised new dates soon, and the gap between the playoff's end on December 21 and the start of the U-19 Women's World Cup in January looks like the natural window — though nothing has been confirmed.

Even before a ball is bowled, the venue has had a makeover for the season — read how the ground was upgraded for the NPL.
