Lumbini LionsAbhishesh Gautam is a Nepal slow left-arm orthodox bowler who will play for Lumbini Lions in NPL Season 3. He was retained in June 2026 as one of seven players kept from the title-winning squad, and he has represented the franchise in every NPL season. His 2 for 15 in the 2025 final kept Sudurpaschim Royals from any recovery, closing a 12-wicket campaign in which he shared the playoff wicket tally with Ruben Trumpelmann.
Gautam owns the left-arm spin overs in the champions’ middle phase. The 2025 formula paired him with Sher Malla through the middle, and he must keep his economy tight in the Nepal Premier League 2026 with Ajay Chauhan bought as direct competition.
About Abhishesh Gautam
Abhishesh Gautam is one half of the Lumbini Lions' championship spin pair: a slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Chandrakot, Gulmi, born on 15 October 2003. His 2 for 15 in the 2025 final kept Sudurpaschim Royals from any recovery, capping a title run in which he took 12 wickets and shared the playoff wicket tally with Ruben Trumpelmann. The Lions retained him in June 2026 as one of seven players kept from the title-winning squad — recognition for a bowler who has represented the franchise in every NPL season. With 13 wickets in charted domestic T20 cricket and 20 wickets in nine one-day games, the 23-year-old is the control bowler of the champions' middle overs, and his best years are still ahead.

Playing style and strengths
Gautam is a classic slow left-arm control bowler: stump-to-stump lines, subtle changes of pace, and the patience to build pressure across a full four-over spell. His 2 for 15 in the 2025 final — bowled when Sudurpaschim Royals were already collapsing — shows a bowler who tightens rather than chases, and his one-day record of 20 wickets in nine games confirms he can hold the same containing role in longer formats.
He works best in tandem with Sher Malla: Gautam's left-arm angle and Malla's offbreak give Rohit Paudel two different turning directions through overs 7 to 15. He bats right-handed but is a genuine tail-ender, so his selection rests entirely on those middle-overs numbers — and on current evidence, they justify it.
Abhishesh Gautam's role at Lumbini Lions in Season 3
Gautam owns the left-arm spin overs in the champions' middle phase. The 2025 formula was simple — Trumpelmann and Kishor Mahato with the new ball, then Malla and Gautam through the middle — and there is no reason for captain Rohit Paudel to change a combination that won a title.
His direct competition is Ajay Chauhan, the NPR 2 lakh left-arm spinner bought at the July auction: Chauhan's attacking one-day record means Gautam must keep his economy tight to hold the slot, but the retained man's final pedigree gives him the inside track. In a squad now carrying five spin options, Gautam's job is to be the banker — four overs, minimal damage, and the squeeze that lets the quicks attack at the death.
