Deepak Bohara is a Nepal batter who will represent Chitwan Rhinos in NPL Season 3. Few domestic players survive every squad-building exercise, and Bohara has survived all of Chitwan's: bought for NPR 5 lakh in Category C in 2024, retained for 2025 and again for Season 3. His signature Rhinos innings is 42 from 36 against Karnali Yaks in Season 2, steadying a chase of 167 from 29 for 2. He is a stabiliser: timing and placement over power.
With Bopara and Raza owning the veteran middle-order slots, his brief is the domestic complement: hold an end while the overseas power plays. In the Nepal Premier League 2026, his value peaks when early wickets fall and the innings needs him.
About Deepak Bohara
Deepak Bohara is one of the few domestic players to survive every squad-building exercise Chitwan has run: bought for NPR 5 lakh in Category C at the inaugural 2024 auction, retained for 2025 and retained again for Season 3. His signature Rhinos innings remains the 42 from 36 balls against Karnali Yaks in Season 2, when he steadied a chase of 167 from 29 for 2. That stabiliser's game is the skill the franchise keeps paying for.
Three squad-building exercises, one conclusion — few domestic players survive every rebuild a franchise runs, and Bohara has survived all of Chitwan's. The 42 from 36 was not a blaze but a rescue, played at barely above a run a ball while the innings was falling apart: timing and placement over power, the innings rebuilt in singles while the required rate stayed manageable. It is the innings the franchise keeps paying for.
Playing style and strengths
Bohara's game is the middle-order stabiliser's craft, and the Karnali innings is the whole syllabus: in at 29 for 2 chasing 167, he played 36 balls for 42 — strike rotation over boundary-hunting, the innings rebuilt while the required rate stayed manageable. In T20, the stabiliser is the least glamorous and most structurally important batting role: he is the reason collapses stop at two wickets instead of six, the player who lets the power-hitters bat around him.
That skill set shapes his tempo and method — a game built on timing and placement rather than brute force. The 42 came at barely above a run a ball, which means the boundaries were earned through gaps, not cleared ropes. His value peaks when early wickets fall and the innings needs an adult in the room; his risk is the flip side of the same coin, that on a true batting surface the stabiliser can be left behind by the power game. Chitwan's retentions, twice over, say the franchise will take that trade.
Deepak Bohara's role at Chitwan Rhinos in Season 3
Bohara's Season 3 role is the domestic middle-order anchor in a batting unit suddenly rich with overseas experience. Ravi Bopara (52 off 36 in the same Karnali fixture a season earlier) and Sikandar Raza now own the veteran middle-order slots, which pushes Bohara's stabiliser game into the domestic complement: the local batter who holds an end while the overseas power plays around him. With Dev Khanal's right-hand top-order game and captain Kushal Malla's left-hand power likely ahead of him, Bohara's overs are the middle ones — the rebuild phase after the powerplay.
The retention, twice over, tells him exactly what the franchise wants: more Karnali innings. In a squad that won twice last season, the ability to stop a collapse is not a luxury — and Bohara, bought for 5 lakh in Category C back in 2024 and kept ever since, is the cheapest insurance Chitwan owns.
