He has bowled for Karnali Province in the PM Cup. Squad listings describe him as a bowler who can bat a bit, suited to economical middle overs.
Pun was scouted in his home province before the bidding started. In Nepal Premier League 2026, he is the classic depth pick: cheap, local and known to the coaches.
About Diwan Pun
Diwan Pun — listed in player databases as Diwan Babu Pun — is Karnali's talent-hunt discovery, signed at the Season 3 auction for NPR 2 lakh. He has bowled for Karnali Province in the PM Cup, the domestic 50-over competition, and he came through the Yaks' own pre-season talent hunt in Surkhet and Salyan — the same scouting drive that unearthed fellow 2-lakh signing Sachin Sharma from more than 300 hopefuls.
That pathway matters: Pun was not a random auction punt but a player already on the franchise's radar, scouted in his home province before the bidding started. At the lowest price bracket, he is the classic depth pick — cheap, local, and known to the coaches.

Playing style and strengths
Pun is listed as an all-rounder, but his primary identity is with the ball: a bowler who can bat a bit. His calling card is economical middle-overs bowling — the unsung T20 discipline of landing six balls in the same area and letting scoreboard pressure do the damage. He does not have the headline variations of a death-overs specialist, and at this stage of his career that is fine: his job is the quiet overs between the strike bowlers' spells, the 7th-to-14th-over phase where games drift.
With the bat he is a capable lower-order contributor rather than a finisher, useful for eking out ten or fifteen runs when the tail needs stretching rather than launching from ball one. His PM Cup outings for Karnali Province are relevant here: 50-over cricket demands longer spells and repeated discipline, the exact temperament that translates into economical T20 middle overs.
Diwan Pun's role at Karnali Yaks in Season 3
At NPR 2 lakh, Pun's Season 3 role is depth and readiness. Karnali's first-choice attack picks itself — Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav with the new ball, Mark Watt's four banked overs, Yuvraj Khatri's wrist-spin — which leaves Pun competing with the other utility options, Dipendra Rawat and Unish Thakuri, for the remaining overs when conditions or matchups demand a change.
His PM Cup experience for Karnali Province means he has bowled meaningful domestic overs, not just talent-hunt trials, and the Surkhet-Salyan scouting link gives the coaches a direct read on his temperament. If injuries hit the bowling department mid-tournament, Pun is the homegrown, system-familiar replacement rather than an emergency scramble. He also has a clear development pathway — bowling in the nets to international batters and facing the scrutiny of a former Nepal captain in head coach Gyanendra Malla is an education no domestic season replicates.
