Hikmat Mahara is a Nepali domestic player who will represent Sudurpaschim Royals in NPL Season 3 after the club retained him for a third straight season. He was one of seven home-grown players the club held onto ahead of the auction, even while spending NPR 26 lakh on six new signings, and the verified record lists no confirmed playing role and no published figures from his Royals appearances.
In Nepal Premier League 2026, Mahara is the quiet value pick of the squad: two years inside the coach's systems and two finals campaigns from the inside. The retention is the franchise's verdict, chosen over every alternative the auction offered.
About Hikmat Mahara
Hikmat Mahara is a Nepali domestic player retained by Sudurpaschim Royals for Season 3, one of seven home-grown players the club held onto ahead of the auction. The verified public record on his game is thin: no confirmed playing role and no published figures from his Royals appearances. His third straight retention is the franchise's own verdict: the coaching staff kept him with a full view of the market, spending NPR 26 lakh on six auction buys while deciding Mahara was already worth a squad place. That is the strongest endorsement an uncapped domestic player can get, chosen over every alternative the auction offered. His story is the quiet one in a squad of headlines: valued for what the scorecard misses.
Playing style and strengths
No verified source specifies Mahara's playing role, batting style or bowling style, so describing his technique would be invention, and the honest analysis is more interesting than a made-up one. Three straight retentions by a franchise that reached back-to-back finals describe a cricketer whose value lives in the parts of the game the public record misses: training intensity, tactical understanding, fielding standards, dressing-room reliability. Coaches do not keep the same uncapped domestic player for three seasons on sentiment; they keep him because he makes the XI better in ways opponents cannot scout. Whatever his discipline, and the squad's balance suggests cover across departments, his verified strength is trust: Airee and the staff know exactly what they get.
Hikmat Mahara's role at Sudurpaschim Royals in Season 3
For Mahara, Season 3 is about continuity in a changing squad. In a 16-man group where seven domestic players were retained and six new faces arrived at auction, he is one of the few who knows Airee's systems, the Royals' fielding drills and the rhythms of two finals campaigns from the inside. That institutional memory matters in a tournament as short as the NPL: when the XI needs a like-for-like replacement or a tactical substitute, the player who has trained in the setup for two years is the lowest-risk option. His retention over a fresh auction buy, with 26 lakh spent on six signings, is Airee's statement that the squad's culture carriers matter as much as its stars. If injuries or form open a door, Mahara is first in line precisely because he has been there all along.
