The Biratnagar Kings vs Chitwan Rhinos toss went Biratnagar's way on Tuesday at Kirtipur, with Sandeep Lamichhane's side electing to bowl first in NPL 2026 Match 2. Chitwan Rhinos, led by Kushal Malla, bat first in the 12:30 PM NST day game at the TU International Cricket Ground.

Biratnagar Kings vs Chitwan Rhinos toss: what the decision means

Biratnagar Kings captain Sandeep Lamichhane called correctly at the toss and chose to bowl first, sending Chitwan Rhinos in to bat in the opening match of day two. The decision puts the pressure on Chitwan's batters to set a target, while Biratnagar will know exactly what they need when their chase begins later in the afternoon.

Bowling first also gives Biratnagar's attack the first chance to shape the match. Lamichhane leads a bowling group that will look for early wickets before Chitwan's middle order can settle, and any total Chitwan post becomes a fixed target rather than a guessing game for the side batting second.

Monday's opener showed that a chase can work at this ground. Lumbini Lions sent Sudurpaschim Royals in, bowled them out for 87, and reached the target with seven wickets in hand. Biratnagar will hope for a similar script, though every match starts from zero and Chitwan's batting line-up poses a different test. Follow the game on the Biratnagar vs Chitwan match page, and see the Biratnagar vs Chitwan playing XI page for the lineups. Monday's opener is covered in the Lumbini vs Sudurpaschim highlights.

Day two begins: both sides chasing a first win

Match 2 is the first match of the day-two double-header at Kirtipur, and both teams are playing their first match of Season 3. Neither side has points on the board yet, so the winner takes an early step in the league table while the loser starts the season chasing.

Biratnagar reached the playoffs last season and will want a winning start to go further this time. Chitwan reached the Eliminator in the inaugural season but suffered an early exit in the league stage last season, and a win here would set a different tone for their campaign.

The second match of the day follows in the evening, when Karnali Yaks meet Janakpur Bolts at 5:00 PM NST at the same ground. Read the Karnali vs Janakpur match preview for the evening game.

Head-to-head: level at 1-1

The two sides have met twice in the NPL and have one win each. Biratnagar won the first meeting by 51 runs on 13 December 2024, posting 181 for 5 and restricting Chitwan to 130 for 6. Chitwan answered in the second edition, winning by 48 runs on 26 November 2025 after posting 174 for 5 and bowling Biratnagar out for 126.

With the rivalry level, Tuesday's match is also a tiebreaker of sorts: the winner takes a 2-1 lead in the head-to-head and, more importantly, the first points of their Season 3 campaign. See the Biratnagar vs Chitwan prediction and the Biratnagar vs Chitwan match preview for more on the matchup.
