About Basir Ahamad
Basir Ahamad is a left-handed middle-order batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Kapilvastu, retained by Biratnagar Kings on 16 June 2026 for a third NPL campaign.
A Nepal international with 24 ODI caps and 11 T20I caps, he was the Kings’ leading run-scorer in NPL 2024 and made 117 runs in seven matches in 2025.
His international timeline is brisk: ODI debut against Namibia on 11 July 2022, T20I debut against Kenya six weeks later, and a breakout 2025 Quadrangular T20I Series — 110 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 144.7 with a high score of 80 — that confirmed his white-ball hitting credentials.
His T20I strike rate of 135.64 makes him one of the squad’s most reliable middle-order options.

Playing style and strengths
Ahamad’s game is built on left-handed middle-order hitting with genuine intent: a T20I strike rate of 135.64, and 144.7 across the 2025 Quadrangular series, mark a batter who takes on spin in the middle overs rather than nurdling. As a left-hander in a squad whose other senior batters — Lokesh Bam, Shubham Ranjane — bat right-handed, he gives the Kings natural left-right combinations through the middle, complicating bowlers’ lines and field settings.
His slow left-arm orthodox is the second string to his batting: a containing option the captain can turn to for an over or two when the match-up suits, and it makes him one of four spin options in the squad alongside Sandeep Lamichhane, Subash Bhandari and Aprajit Poudel. Wearing jersey 75 for Nepal, he is an experienced two-skill cricketer — the batting is why he is retained, the bowling is why he is hard to leave out.
Basir Ahamad's role at Biratnagar Kings in Season 3
Ahamad is retained-core furniture: a third campaign, the franchise’s leading scorer from the inaugural 2024 season, and a known quantity at Kirtipur. His Season 3 job is a middle-order rebound — 117 runs in seven matches in 2025 was a down year by his standards, and the Kings retained him on the 2024 evidence and the 2025 Quadrangular form, not the 2025 NPL numbers.
Tactically he slots at five or six around the overseas signings: Charith Asalanka and Shubham Ranjane take the senior slots, and Ahamad’s left-handedness balances their mix while his part-time spin lets Sandeep Lamichhane carry five frontline bowling options without weakening the batting. In a squad stacked with all-rounders — Rupesh Singh, Narayan Joshi, Sujan Thapaliya, Pratik Shrestha — Ahamad’s edge is that his primary skill is batting, not bits-and-pieces.
