Sandeep Lamichhane is a Nepal right-arm leg-break bowler who captains Biratnagar Kings in NPL Season 3. Retained on 16 June 2026, he was the joint-leading wicket-taker of NPL 2025 with 17 wickets, level with Sher Malla and Abinash Bohara, while captaining the Kings to the playoffs. Nepal's all-time leading white-ball wicket-taker, he was sold for INR 20 lakh at the 2018 IPL auction at eighteen and holds a CAN A+ contract at Rs 120,000 a month. In the Nepal Premier League 2026, the skipper remains the foundation of the attack: four overs of wrist-spin that the entire title challenge is built around.
About Sandeep Lamichhane
Sandeep Lamichhane is Nepal’s all-time leading wicket-taker in both ODIs and T20Is, and the captain and marquee player of Biratnagar Kings.
Retained on 16 June 2026, he was the joint-leading wicket-taker of NPL 2025 with 17 wickets while captaining the side to the playoffs. He sat at the Kings’ auction table on 6 July, when the franchise spent NPR 37.25 lakh on eight domestic players.

Playing style and strengths
Lamichhane bowls right-arm leg-break with a big-spinning stock ball and the googly as his main variation — the classic attacking wrist-spin package, delivered with a quick arm action that rushes batters. His method is wicket-taking rather than containing: flight to invite the drive, drift to beat the edge, and the variation to trap the sweeping batter.
The 2025 numbers — 17 wickets, the joint-most in the league alongside Sher Malla and Abinash Bohara — show how a captain uses him: four overs in the middle phase, attacking when others defend, and trusted at the death when a wicket is the only currency that matters. He is also the attack’s tactician-in-chief, setting fields for Subash Bhandari’s off-break and the left-arm orthodox options from a wrist-spinner’s understanding of match-ups.
Sandeep Lamichhane's role at Biratnagar Kings in Season 3
Lamichhane is captain, marquee player and the fixed point of the Kings’ Season 3 plans — retained on 16 June 2026 before anything else was decided, and present at the auction table on 6 July as the franchise spent NPR 37.25 lakh on eight domestic players. The attack is built around his four overs; everything else is support structure.
That structure is deliberately varied: Subash Bhandari’s right-arm off-break and the left-arm orthodox of Basir Ahamad and Aprajit Poudel give him three different spin partners, Pratish GC leads the seam attack, and Charith Asalanka’s part-time off-break plus his recent Sri Lanka captaincy experience provide a second tactical brain. Season 3’s task is to convert the 2025 playoff run into a title — with Nepal’s all-time leading white-ball wicket-taker as both spearhead and skipper, the Kings’ ceiling is set by his form.
