Playing style and strengths
Bhandari is a right-arm off-break bowler in the containing mould: 15 domestic T20 wickets at 12.80 with an economy of 5.67 is the statistical signature of a spinner who bowls to his field, dries up an end and lets pressure create wickets. His Under-19 World Cup five-for — 5 for 44 — shows the attacking ceiling when batters are forced to take him on.
His value to Sandeep Lamichhane is contrast: off-break turning away from right-handers where the captain’s leg-break turns in, giving the Kings two different revolutions through the middle overs. He bats right-handed but is a specialist bowler, so his four-over case rests on economy first and wickets second — and at 21, with a 2024 Under-19 World Cup and two domestic seasons behind him, he is ahead of Aprajit Poudel in the support-spinner race on seniority and proven economy.
Subash Bhandari's role at Biratnagar Kings in Season 3
Bhandari is the retained containing spinner: the second spinner behind Sandeep Lamichhane’s four overs, and the man the captain turns to when the game needs slowing down. On Kirtipur tracks the franchise is openly building its spin strength around, his economy-first off-break is a natural fit for the middle-overs squeeze.
His direct competition is the 2-lakh Category C buy Aprajit Poudel — a left-arm orthodox teenager — and Bhandari holds every card: retained core status, senior domestic numbers with an economy of 5.67, and an Under-19 World Cup pedigree. With Basir Ahamad’s part-time left-arm spin and Asalanka’s part-time off-break as back-up, Bhandari’s realistic Season 3 is a near-ever-present: the second spinner in most XIs, bowling the overs Lamichhane doesn’t, and the bridge between the captain’s strike bowling and the part-timers.
