Aprajit Poudel is a Nepal slow left-arm orthodox bowler who joined Biratnagar Kings as a Category C auction pick at the NPR 2 lakh base price for NPL Season 3. A 19-year-old from Devchuli, Nawalparasi, he is a Nepal Under-19 international named in the ACC U19 Asia Cup squad. His youth numbers are striking: 14 wickets at 13.43 in seven one-day matches with a best of 3 for 26, plus nine wickets at 15.11 in seven T20s. He was also named in Gandaki Province's squad for the 2026 Prime Minister Cup.
For the Nepal Premier League 2026, the Kings get a genuine wicket-taking spinner who can bowl through the middle overs, and a long-term prospect to develop.
About Aprajit Poudel
Aprajit Poudel is a nineteen-year-old slow left-arm orthodox spinner from Devchuli, Nawalparasi, who entered NPL Season 3 as a Category C auction pick for Biratnagar Kings at the NPR 2 lakh base price.
A Nepal Under-19 international, he arrives with wicket-taking youth numbers — 14 wickets at 13.43 in one-day matches and nine at 15.11 in T20s.
His rise ran through the 2024 youth cycle: selection in Nepal’s fifteen-member squad for the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in late 2024, then a place in Gandaki Province’s squad for the 2026 Prime Minister Cup — the domestic step that put him on the Kings’ auction radar.
Season 3 is his first franchise campaign, and he will compete with Subash Bhandari for the support-spinner slot behind Sandeep Lamichhane.

Playing style and strengths
Poudel bowls slow left-arm orthodox, the classic T20 left-arm spin package: drifting the ball into right-handers and turning it away, varying pace rather than relying on extravagant turn. His youth returns mark him as an attacking option rather than a holding one — 14 one-day wickets at 13.43 with a best of 3 for 26, and nine T20 wickets at 15.11 with a best of 2 for 13, suggest a bowler who hunts wickets in short spells rather than bowling defensively.
The open question is the step up from youth to senior franchise cricket: Under-19 batters chase; NPL middle orders pick length earlier and punish anything overpitched. His value in the Kings’ setup is the left-arm angle — with Subash Bhandari offering right-arm off-break and Basir Ahamad another left-arm orthodox option, Poudel’s route to overs is as the second left-arm spinner when match-ups demand it. He bats right-handed but is listed purely as a bowler, so his entire case rests on four-over economy and wicket-taking.
Aprajit Poudel's role at Biratnagar Kings in Season 3
Poudel is a development pick with a defined, if narrow, pathway: the support-spinner slot behind Sandeep Lamichhane’s locked-in four overs. His direct competition is the retained Subash Bhandari, and the contest is a genuine style choice for captain Lamichhane — Bhandari’s right-arm off-break against Poudel’s left-arm orthodox, picked according to the opposition’s batting make-up.
At the Category C base price of NPR 2 lakh, he costs the Kings nothing in cap terms, and on a Kirtipur surface the franchise is openly building its spin strength around, a second or third spinner is a live option rather than a luxury. Expect him to start as squad depth with real net-bowler value, his debut most likely if Bhandari is rested, conditions turn sharply, or the opposition stacks right-handers. Long-term, his role is succession planning: learning the trade behind Nepal’s greatest spinner.
