Mausam Dhakal is a Nepal bowler who will represent Chitwan Rhinos in NPL Season 3. Chitwan signed him for NPR 3 lakh on July 6, 2026, the franchise's priciest domestic bowling purchase. His road began with Karnali Yaks, who paid NPR 10 lakh for him in Category B in 2024, and two full NPL seasons with Karnali gave Chitwan's scouts an extended look before they bid. The Rhinos want him as the first local name in an attack built around the overseas trio.
His brief is the support bowler: first-change and middle-over quota behind Sana and Airee. In the Nepal Premier League 2026, his knowledge of these venues is the premium the 3-lakh price paid for.
About Mausam Dhakal
Mausam Dhakal was Chitwan's priciest domestic bowling purchase at the Season 3 auction, signed for NPR 3 lakh on July 6, 2026. His franchise road began with the Karnali Yaks, who paid NPR 10 lakh for him in Category B at the inaugural 2024 auction, and two seasons in league conditions gave Chitwan's scouts an extended look before they bid. The Rhinos want him as the first local name in an attack built around the overseas trio.
The cross-franchise move is the story: two full NPL seasons with Karnali meant Chitwan's scouts had an extended, unfiltered look — these venues, these batters, the evening conditions that shape Nepali T20 — before spending. At NPR 3 lakh he was Chitwan's priciest domestic bowling purchase: the franchise paying a premium for the known quantity over the unknown. The price says they expect him to bowl like the first local name in the attack.
Playing style and strengths
Dhakal's listed role is bowler, and his credential is the one no auction price can fake: two seasons of NPL cricket with Karnali Yaks. He has bowled in these venues, against these batters, in the conditions that shape Nepali T20 — the kind of league-specific knowledge a first-season import spends half a campaign acquiring. At 3 lakh, the most Chitwan paid for any domestic bowler, the expectation is contribution, not development: overs that matter, in phases that matter.
The role-based read is the reliable support bowler — the domestic name the captain turns to when the strike bowlers need a rest but the pressure cannot drop. Behind Kaleem Sana's left-arm new-ball burst and Kamal Singh Airee's wicket-taking seam, and alongside the spin twins Raza and Malla, Dhakal's overs are the attack's connective tissue: the middle spells where totals are defended in increments. Two seasons with Karnali taught him exactly those overs; Chitwan paid 3 lakh to import the lesson.
Mausam Dhakal's role at Chitwan Rhinos in Season 3
Dhakal's Season 3 role is the domestic bowling trio's senior man: Ashok Dhami (2 lakh) and Gautam KC (2 lakh) are the cheaper, less proven options; Dhakal, at 3 lakh with two Karnali seasons behind him, is the one the price tag points to first. His realistic path is the first-change and middle-over quota — the overs after Sana and Airee's new-ball burst, where the innings is either consolidated or broken open. Captain Malla will look to him when the game needs steadying, not gambling.
There is a narrative edge too: twice a season, Chitwan plays the Karnali Yaks — the franchise that paid 10 lakh for him in 2024 and let him go. Bowlers remember those fixtures. If Dhakal's Rhinos career starts with telling spells against his old side, the 3-lakh outlay becomes the auction's smartest domestic-bowling money.
