Sudurpaschim RoyalsSachin Bhatta is a Nepali bowler who joined Sudurpaschim Royals for NPL Season 3 after the club bought him for NPR 2 lakh at the July 2026 auction. He was the cheapest of the club's four domestic bowlers, with no verified bowling style and no prior NPL record, which makes him the squad's purest scouts' pick. At 2 lakh he cost the same as fellow newcomers Ayub Chand and Tek Rawat.
In Nepal Premier League 2026, Bhatta completes the domestic pace pool of Abinash Bohara, Hemant Dhami and Anil Kharel behind overseas spearhead Scott Kuggeleijn. The scouts backed him on unseen evidence; Season 3 is where that judgement gets tested in public.
About Sachin Bhatta
Sachin Bhatta is a Nepali bowler the Royals bought for NPR 2 lakh at the July 2026 auction, the cheapest of the club's four domestic bowlers. His role is listed as bowler, with no verified bowling style and no prior NPL record, which makes him the squad's purest scouts' pick. He completes a domestic bowling pool of Abinash Bohara, Hemant Dhami and Anil Kharel behind overseas spearhead Scott Kuggeleijn. At 2 lakh he cost the same as fellow newcomers Ayub Chand and Tek Rawat, the entry-level fee for an unproven domestic player. The Royals' scouts backed him on unseen evidence; Season 3 is where that judgement gets tested in public.
Playing style and strengths
Bhatta's bowling style is not in the verified record, which makes him the NPL's classic unknown quantity, and unknown quantities have a genuine tactical edge. Batters facing him for the first time have no footage, no release-point data and no plan; in a league where every other bowler is scouted to the last detail, that blank file is worth something. His verified context is the domestic pace pool: behind Kuggeleijn's experience, Bohara's death yorkers and Dhami's youth, Bhatta's most plausible role is the flexible fourth seamer, the bowler Airee can throw the ball to in any phase without the opposition knowing what is coming. Whether he is new-ball swing or middle-overs hit-the-deck, the mystery itself is his first weapon.
His competition inside the squad sharpens the picture. Abinash Bohara owns the death overs, Hemant Dhami is the anointed middle-overs project, and Anil Kharel arrived with debut wickets and a 5-lakh fee. Bhatta does not need to dislodge any of them on day one; he needs to be the bowler Airee trusts when the schedule compresses and the frontline needs rest. Fourth seamers win tournaments in the games nobody remembers, the dead rubbers and the double-headers.
Sachin Bhatta's role at Sudurpaschim Royals in Season 3
In Season 3 Bhatta is the depth gamble at the bottom of the auction list. The Royals' pace attack is settled at the top, Kuggeleijn leads, Bohara closes, Dhami develops, which leaves Bhatta and the 5-lakh Anil Kharel competing for the fourth domestic seamer's place. His route to the XI is the one every unknown bowler dreams of: a pre-season spell against the Royals' own heavyweight top order, with Bhandari, Sheikh and Airee offering the most honest audition in Nepali cricket. Take wickets there and the 2-lakh fee becomes the auction's bargain; the coaching staff kept Hikmat Mahara for three seasons on unseen value, so they understand the type. Until then he is the insurance the title contenders all carry.
The Royals' history with unseen value should encourage him. This is a franchise that retained Hikmat Mahara for three straight seasons on coaching-staff judgement alone, so a 2-lakh scouts' pick is not a lottery ticket here, it is a considered call. Bhatta's audition is unusually fair: bowl at Bhandari, Sheikh, Pandey and Airee in the nets, the same batters he would need to dismiss in matches, and let the results speak. One strong pre-season spell is all it takes to move from the bottom of the auction list into the matchday eighteen.
