Pokhara AvengersDinesh Kharel is a Nepal cricketer who will represent Pokhara Avengers in NPL Season 3, heading into a third campaign in Pokhara colours as the longest-serving domestic player in the squad. The verified record does not specify his playing role, but three seasons with one franchise is its own statement: through two playoff misses, a coaching change and a full rebuild, Pokhara kept coming back to Kharel.
In the Nepal Premier League Season 3, that longevity makes him the squad's institutional memory at Kirtipur's TU Ground. For new head coach Ajantha Mendis and six auction buys who have never worn the franchise's colours, Kharel is the guide to the ground's moods and the dressing room's routines.
About Dinesh Kharel
Dinesh Kharel is heading into a third campaign in Pokhara colours — the longest-serving domestic player in the Season 3 squad, retained among the seven-player home core. The verified record does not specify his playing role, but three seasons with one franchise is its own statement: through two playoff misses, a coaching change and a full rebuild, Pokhara kept coming back to Kharel.
That longevity makes him the squad's institutional memory. At a home tournament played entirely at Kirtipur's TU Ground, his venue knowledge is a genuine asset for new head coach Ajantha Mendis and the six auction buys who have never worn the franchise's colours — the kind of quiet intelligence, about surfaces and routines, that new signings take weeks to acquire and Kharel carries in.

Playing style and strengths
Kharel's game is best understood through survival. Three seasons in franchise cricket, with a new head coach and two overseas stars arriving, means he has repeatedly won the argument for his place in rooms where sentiment counts for nothing. The traits that achieve that are never mysterious: consistency in preparation, reliability under pressure, and a primary discipline — whichever it is — executed without fuss. In a fifteen-player squad, the third-campaign player is the one the coaches trust to do the unglamorous work correctly.
His concrete edge is Kirtipur. No signing, however decorated — not even Shakib Al Hasan — knows this ground the way a three-season Pokhara player does: how the pitch wears across a tournament, where the ball travels in the evening, which ends favour which discipline. Kharel's strength is turning that knowledge into calm, repeatable cricket. Whatever role Mendis asks of him, he will play it like someone who has been here before — because he has.
Dinesh Kharel's role at Pokhara Avengers in Season 3
Dinesh Kharel's role at Pokhara Avengers in Season 3 is the squad's memory and its steady hand. With a new head coach in Mendis, two overseas headliners and six auction buys, the dressing room has more new faces than old ones — and Kharel, alongside fellow retained players, is one of the few who can tell the newcomers how this franchise actually works. Captains lean on players like him: not necessarily in the XI every game, but in the room every day.
On the field, his brief is the same as every retained domestic player's — force selection through performance — but with a veteran's advantage: he knows exactly what Kirtipur demands and what this tournament costs. If Pokhara's playoff push hits the inevitable rough patch, Bhurtel will want cricketers around him who have felt this franchise's disappointments and still turn up. Kharel has felt them for two seasons; Season 3 is his chance to help end the pattern.
