Gautam KC is a Nepal bowler who will represent Chitwan Rhinos in NPL Season 3. His Rhinos story is one of unusual loyalty: bought for NPR 2 lakh in the 2024 auction, retained for 2025, and bought again for 2 lakh ahead of Season 3. Three seasons, three identical deals for a Category D developmental pick who has become the cheapest structural piece Chitwan owns. His brief is control: the tight overs and dot balls that hold an attack's structure together.
Behind Sana's left-arm new-ball burst and Airee's wicket-taking seam, Gautam's overs are the connective tissue between strike phases. If Chitwan defends totals in the Nepal Premier League 2026, his quiet two or three overs will be in the foundation.
About Gautam KC
Gautam KC's Rhinos story is one of unusual loyalty: bought for NPR 2 lakh at the inaugural 2024 auction, retained for 2025, and bought again for NPR 2 lakh ahead of Season 3. Three seasons, three identical deals — the franchise keeps returning to the same low-cost domestic bowler. His brief is control: the tight overs and dot balls that hold an attack's structure together.
Three seasons at the same price makes Gautam the franchise's control experiment: the low-cost bowler whose currency is the dot ball — the tight over that pushes the required rate up and forces batters to take risks against someone else. A Category D developmental pick in 2024, he has become the cheapest structural piece Chitwan owns, and the structure keeps needing him.
Playing style and strengths
Gautam's listed role is bowler and his brief is control — the least spectacular and most repeatable skill in T20. Where strike bowlers hunt wickets, the control bowler's currency is the dot ball: the tight over that pushes the required rate up, forces the batter to take risks against someone else, and holds the innings' shape. Three seasons of 2-lakh deals say the franchise values exactly that: not mystery, not pace, but the discipline to bowl the same hard-to-hit ball six times an over.
The usage pattern writes itself around the attack's senior names. Kaleem Sana's left-arm pace and Kamal Singh Airee's wicket-taking seam take the new ball; Raza and Malla own the spin overs. Gautam's overs are the connective tissue — the middle-over spells that link the strike phases, the quiet two or three overs that decide whether 170 becomes 185. At 2 lakh, he is the cheapest structural piece Chitwan owns, and the structure keeps needing him.
Gautam KC's role at Chitwan Rhinos in Season 3
Gautam's Season 3 role is the domestic bowling trio's continuity man: Ashok Dhami (2 lakh, new) and Mausam Dhakal (3 lakh, ex-Karnali) are the fresh faces; Gautam is the one who has bowled in Rhinos colours for two seasons already. That familiarity is his selection edge — he knows the home conditions, the captain's plans and the batters he will bowl to in the nets. In a squad that won twice last season, the known quantity has a value the auction cannot buy.
The competition is honest: Mausam cost more and brings two seasons of league conditions from Karnali; Dhami is the unknown the scouts flagged. Gautam's answer is the same as it has been for three seasons — control, economy, the tight over at the right time. If the Rhinos' attack is going to defend totals in Season 3, the 2-lakh bowler's dot balls will be somewhere in the foundation.
