Pratik Pokharel is a Nepal bowler who will represent Pokhara Avengers in NPL Season 3 after being signed at the July 6, 2026 auction for NPR 2 lakh. He arrived as part of the base-price domestic bowling group assembled after the franchise spent its headline money, NPR 15 lakh, on keeper Arjun Gharti. Listed as a bowler, he is squad depth in a fifteen-player group: the kind of July signing that can look inspired by October.
In the Nepal Premier League 2026, Pokharel's season is about earning his overs the hard way, in an attack reshaped under new head coach Ajantha Mendis. He must push the starters in training and be ready when conditions or form open a door.
About Pratik Pokharel
Pratik Pokharel was signed by Pokhara Avengers at the July 6, 2026 auction for NPR 2 lakh — part of the base-price bowling group the franchise assembled after spending its headline money on wicketkeeper Arjun Gharti's NPR 15 lakh. Listed as a bowler, he is domestic bowling depth in a fifteen-player squad: the kind of signing that looks minor in July and can look inspired by October.
His brief is straightforward: push the starters in training, stay ready, and be the answer when conditions or form open a door. Around him, the attack is being reshaped under new head coach Ajantha Mendis, with Shakib Al Hasan's spin and Sagar Dhakal's finger-spin leading the slow-bowling unit at Kirtipur. Pokharel's Season 3 is about earning his overs the hard way.

Playing style and strengths
Pokharel's listed role is bowler, though his bowling style is not specified in verified reports — so the analysis has to be about what base-price bowling depth demands. In a squad where Shakib and Dhakal own the spin overs, a domestic depth bowler survives on two things: control and character. Control, because T20 captains will not throw overs to a bowler they cannot trust; character, because the fifth and sixth bowling options usually get the hardest overs — the ones the stars do not want.
His strength must be reliability under limited opportunity. Depth bowlers rarely get rhythm; they get one over here, two there, often at the death or against set batters. The players who convert base-price signings into careers are the ones who treat every net session as an audition and every rare over as a final. Pokharel was bought for NPR 2 lakh, but tournaments remember what you do with the overs, not what you cost.
Pratik Pokharel's role at Pokhara Avengers in Season 3
Pratik Pokharel's role at Pokhara Avengers in Season 3 is bowling insurance. The attack's established names are Shakib Al Hasan, Sagar Dhakal and the NPR 3 lakh-rated Sudip Aryal — which leaves Pokharel as the next cab off the rank whenever the XI needs a fresh option: an injury, a loss of form, or a Kirtipur surface that rewards a different style. In a long tournament, that moment almost always comes.
His tactical value is flexibility for Bhurtel and Mendis. A fourth or fifth bowling option who can be trusted changes how a captain uses his stars — Shakib's four overs can be held back, Dhakal can be deployed as a weapon rather than a stock bowler. Pokharel may not start the season in the XI, but depth players decide whether a squad survives October intact. His job is to make sure that when his over comes, the captain never hesitates to give it.
